For as long as I can remember, my dad has been planting trees. Apple trees, apricot trees, cherry blossom trees, fancy trees, trees from nurseries’ garbage bins, trees hundreds at a time, and really any type of tree that would require the purchase of tractor accessories.
As a kid, I remember the trees being strictly off-limits, with ropes and small cages circling what looked like little weeds. Now that I am a parent, I understand “off-limits” actually just meant don’t run over my sapling with your monster truck.
But for all the hours spent planting, and caring, and talking with arborists … I am certain that it was all for this exact day – Grandpa Steve & Dexter picking apples!
What a great story down memory lane and great pictures. Grandpa Steve could not wait for Dexter to come over and pick those apples. Love it.
