Day 4

Day number 4 in the hospital.

The doctor hasn’t made his rounds through our room yet this morning, but last night he was pretty confident that Dexter would be able to go home either today or tomorrow.

I think Dexter’s smile says, “home today” … or maybe that’s just our wishful thinking.

Day number 3 in the hospital.

The doctor encouraged us to stay patient as this is a slow process, but he looks much better.  He thinks Dexter should stay at least one more day in the hospital.  Tomorrow he will have xrays done to see if his lungs have cleared up.  If so, that will be our ticket out!

In the meantime, we are doing our best to entertain Dexter … and ourselves.

Day number 2 in the hospital.

Dexter is doing better but the doctor wants him to stay a little longer.  His lungs are still congested and they want to monitor him during the harsh part of this virus.

Dexter is a bit crabby, partly because of being sick, but also because he is bored … no jumpy jungle gyms in the hospital! The only thing that seems to cure the boredom (and probably this virus) is sleep.  Here’s to hoping we are blessed lots of naps today!

Our little Dexter had his first overnight hospital stay since he was born.  He started a cough on Monday and had a fever that came and went all week.  The pediatrician diagnosed him with bronchiolitis and recommended that we take him to the hospital yesterday to be monitored overnight.

We’ve been here for a little over 12 hours now and he seems to be doing well.  He still has a cough, but has been fever-free for most of the stay.  His arm IV bandage seems to be keeping him pretty entertained … something new and tasty!

Power Nap

Nothing like a power nap and a good Dexter snuggle to re-energize for the rest of the week.

Bathtub Upgrade

A few weeks after our last “bathtub” post (here), Dexter outgrew his keg bucket and we broke down and bought a real baby bathtub.

He absolutely LOVES bath-time!  We nick-named him the bath time cowboy because of how wild he gets around water.

I went to check on Dexter during his nap only to find him not only awake, but perfectly entertained talking to his mobile animals and playing with his blanket.

Mommy or Daddy? (4 months)

Now that Dexter is 4 months old he doesn’t look entirely like Dave’s clone any more.

We dug up some pictures of us at 4 months to do a real comparison:

After Sophie the Giraffe, Dexter’s favorite toy is his ball.  Such a boy already!

It’s a Jungle in There!

The jungle gym continues to be a household favorite!  As Dexter’s curiosity grows, so does the number of toys and animal friends.

Sophie the Giraffe

Dexter has a new best friend and her name is Sophie …. Sophie, the Giraffe.

I heard that Sophie was one of those “must have” toys but it wasn’t until this week that I realized just how true that was!  Dexter cannot be without her and will search her out in a pile of toys.
