In Spanish, the word for baby girl is “nena”. Dexter seems to like that word better than baby, so we have been talking about Nena a lot the last few weeks.

Dexter’s energy level never ceases to impress me … this video was taken 30 minutes before he went to bed.
I guess it’s no wonder he sleeps 11 hours a night!

Dexter is THIS CLOSE to walking by himself. He gets so excited that he screeches each time he is standing alone.
Until he takes those first few steps … the video camera is rolling!

This game of catch went on for about a half hour, Dexter was equally excited each time he rolled the ball to me!
I’m not sure I remember the first time I learned to played to catch. Such a simple game – I’m happy, at least, that I can witness just how fun it is for a little person to discover.

On Monday, Dexter finally took his very first crawling-in-a-straight-line steps!
For months he has been getting around with his awkward move of scooting/rolling/sitting. (here) (here) and (here) And his new milestone achievement certainly didn’t come without a few bumps and bruises (here).
Check out this video from a very proud mommy and daddy!

I heard a fuss from Dexter, looked over, and couldn’t help but laugh when I saw what was going on. It was probably cruel of me to photograph the situation instead of instantly helping …
And how did the mirror get so far away? We videotaped this right after he went through all that work to get the mirror:

Dexter has been rolling for about a month now, but it wasn’t until just now that I was able to capture it on video … with a little help from Sophie.

He’s not angry or upset, he just wants to be heard.
Don’t worry, Dexter we hear you …. the whole building hears you!

Dexter loves standing and jumping! His coordination is slow to follow his desire to be a part of our up-right world and resembles more of a baby-Mambo.
Check out the video of Dexter’s moves!

Did you know that Dexter is a musician? That’s right he can play not one, but TWO instruments … at the same time.
You saw it here first: a four-month-old playing a guitar while also using it to play the drums.

Dexter loves the mirror!
And we have video proof that the mirror is making for some very successful tummy time.

Dexter has become quite the little noise maker! He has discovered how to make a buzzing sound and it is his new favorite thing to do … we may have a future Louis Armstrong on our hands.
I caught a few of his personal concerts throughout the week on video.
